United Daughters of the Confederacy Turner Ashby Chapter records, 1896-1993.

This collection consists of membership applications for the United Daughters of the Confederacy Turner Ashby Chapter, from 1896-1990's. Also included are the original charters, a few programs, scrapbooks and yearbooks, mostly form the second half of the twentieth century. The nine cassette tapes are of interviews with local people on Valley historical matters (particularly the Civil War), most of them done by local historian Wip Robinson, whose wife was a Chapter president, around 1960. An index to the tapes is available from the Special Collections office.

The Turner Ashby Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy was chartered by about two dozen Harrisonburg ladies in the late 1890's.
